The Gearmakers are a league formed by those who aim to advance technology for the betterment of Urtholm. They are centralized in the Haven of Evenstar in Othraweald and have connections to settlements in all of the realms. Many of the Material Depots throughout the world are supplied with additional, interesting, or hard to come by materials through the "Cogfinder's Initiative."
Gearmakers will allow anyone join their ranks, so long as the person joining is in favor of learning about technology and willing to participate in experiments that aim to expand the known sciences.
In many places, they send Technocrats to help educate settlements, inspiring new Technocrats or dispelling myths about the known world.
The Cogfinder’s Initiative is an educating program that The Gearmakers started to help the settlements of Urtholm expand scientific understanding as well as provide more materials to ensure that those who are learning have the means necessary.
The Gearmakers assign an Arithmagician or Technocrat to an area in order to open a school which then starts to hire those from other callings to ensure that the students gain a well rounded education. Many of the schools from settlements that have been long lasting have evolved into Universities, encompassing the settlements they initially started in and becoming bastions of knowledge.
The Material Depots in many of the settlements around Urtholm look to the Cogfinder's Initiative to supply various types of materials. Beings of all sorts of backgrounds will deposit the materials they find in the local Material Depot to be distributed to as needed amongst the network sponsored by The Cofinder's Initiative.
