The cosmic veil that separates the realms is not truly a realm of its own. The Starways are streams of magical energy called ley lines that flow through the world, creating the barrier that separates the realms. Few scientific advancements have been made that can tap into The Starways, however, Cosmographers are able to discern ways of travel through this unseen space.
Because they are an in between to all realms, time does not move in The Starways. Most movements within them seem instantaneous for this reason.
There are no known natural inhabitants of The Starways. Stragglers that get lost there might lost their memories and personality, becoming Star Shades; apparitions without motive or thought.
Star Shades
Star Shades appear as the silhouette of their former selves, filled in by the starry night sky. They have no motives or thoughts, and most of the time wander aimlessly through The Starways until they finally fade into nothing. Star Shades can sometimes perform gestures that they may have made before becoming shades, though there is no true meaning behind it, as if it is the muscle memory of another life.
They have no physical form and cannot interact with others in such a manner. There are ways to harness Star Shades for energy, obliterating them in the process.
